The latest updates exhibit the arrival of a new gaming console by Microsoft, revealed as Xbox One and that it would go on sale later this year. Microsoft, Don Mattrick unveiled this next generation gaming console as “All-in-One”; an electronic hub with all entertainment tangled with the latest technologies and advancements in this All in One Box. The Company further describes this ultimate entertainment system as the second generation of Kinect baked in nice and deep and has powerful specs similar to those of the Sony PS4.

The Quick tour of XBOX one’s striking features;

ü  It has an x-64, 8-core AMD Jaguar CPU, USB 3.0 Ports, 500GB Hard Drive, 8GB DDR3 RAM, WiFi Direct, Blue Ray and the HDMI input and output.

ü  The Xbox one looks like a mini PC, and with this everyone can watch live Television from Cable, set top box.

ü  The new Xbox one brings with itself the Kinect Functionality built into its core. Then, if you want to turn ON the console you only utter the words “Xbox ON”.

ü  There is also an instant respond from this console towards hand gestures and voice commands, that were revealed at the time of its launch event.

ü  According to Microsoft, this Kinect Functionality is so fast that it detects motion I just 13 billionths of a second.

ü  The Xbox one Controller is almost the same as was in Xbox 360, but differs in a way that the triggers will now give vibrating feedback in-game.

ü  The Xbox one games come in Blue Ray discs that are for one time use only. You install the games into your Hard Drive and then you no longer need them as the game is tied to your Xbox Live Account.

ü  The Xbox one includes games as Call of Duty Ghost, Forza Motorsport 5, Quantum Break, FIFA 14, EA sports UFC etc.

The price of Xbox One is officially not announced. The fans are looking forward for this “all in one” pack that would be offering games, live TV, movies and music. Also, we cannot ignore the forthcoming PS4 that would or would not give a tough competition to the Xbox one. This forthcoming PS4 according to updates will have the split tech as well, where the players moving left and right while playing, will be aided by the automatic swapping of the screen. So, let’s see where technology drives us which one amongst these grabs the most attention.

Nokia is one of the most famous and well known Mobile Phone manufacturers in the world especially in Pakistan. Almost Each and every Pakistani is familiar with Nokia cellphones. Nokia cellphones are also considered as the most reliable and usable cellphones in Pakistan. Nokia cellphones are manufactured by Nokia Corporation which is a Finnish multinational Communication and Information technology corporation. Nokia has employees in 120 countries and their cellphone are being sold in about 150 countries. By the year 2012, Nokia was the 2^nd highest mobile phone maker after Samsung. 

Nokia is highly known for its slogan "NOKIA Connecting People" and it was the largest vendor of Mobile Phones from the year 1998 to 2012. Nokia 1100 was Nokia’s best-selling cellphone ever. Nokia 3310 is also very known mobile phone Nokia has manufactured. Most famous and popular series of Nokia mobile phones are N Series and E series. Nokia was the first to claim that there is some space for the mobile phone in the market which could a serve as a gaming console. Nokia also introduced N-Gage which was a mobile phone as well as a gaming console.

Symbian was the main OS for Nokia mobile phones till 2011. Nokia N series which is very popular among Nokia cellphone came with the Symbian OS version 8.1. Later N series mobile phones are released with the upgraded version. Nokia released its mobile phones not only with Symbian OS but also with MeeGo, Maemo, etc. Later in 2011, Nokia joined hands with Microsoft, and announced that its Symbian and MeeGo OS will be replaced with Microsoft Windows Phone OS. Recently, Nokia Corporation has been working on its Lumia Series smartphones which are operating on Windows Phone OS.

During the last 5 years, Nokia has suffered a declined market due to the growing use of the touchscreen cellphone from the other vendor like iPhones and also devices running on Google Android OS. Nokia phones are now struggling in America and Europe. In Asian markets, Nokia has to face a hard competition. Nokia has introduced its Asha series to combat the challenges caused by the Android phones and iPhones.

Nokia has been organizing workshops in different places in Pakistan for the development of Windows Phone 8 and Symbian OS applications. They are providing training to the software developer to make them familiar with Windows Phone OS development. Keeping in mind that the Windows Phone 8 demand is increased in the country, which is a positive sign for Nokia Corporation.

Microsoft Windows 8: A Refined Innovation

Microsoft Windows 8 is the latest version of Microsoft OS which is being used on PCs, laptops and tablet PCs. It was released on 26^th October 2012 and the operating has been in stores for half a year. Windows 8 is available in Pakistan since the start of November 2012. Windows 8 is available in two versions at retail in Pakistan, Windows 8 and Windows 8 pro.

Microsoft Windows 8 has significant changes as compare to its predecessors. It was the biggest change in Microsoft OS since Windows 95. Windows 8 has introduced a new Modern UI interface, Windows 8 Windows Store, security enhancements and performance improvement.

Microsoft has hosted a new Modern UI interface in Windows 8. It was a radical change in the interface of Microsoft OS because from Windows 95 to Windows 7, it doesn’t take much time to switch between the versions. Windows 8 features a new touch user interface and shell based on Microsoft Metro design Language featuring a new Start Screen with a grid of dynamically updating tiles representing applications. This Start Screen replaces the Start Menu of previous versions of Microsoft Windows.  It also features a new lock screen with clock and notifications. The desktop is relegated to the side lines to make use of so called Modern UI Interface. This interface is designed to be used with the Touch Screens as well as the mouse and keyboard.

Windows 8 takes advantage of new and emerging technologies. I also feature built-in antivirus software to prevent malware from causing boot process and files. Internet Explorer 10 is included as both desktop program and touch optimized app. Windows 8 introduces a new style Windows 8 Apps which are specifically designed for  touchscreen environments. A large variety of Windows 8 app is available in Windows Store. It contains games, social networking, office, sports, news, weather and other apps.

Windows 8 has damaged the market of PC’s badly in the last three months because it causes the evolution of PCs beyond laptops and desktops into Tablet PC’s and other new devices. Several changes were also made by Microsoft in Windows 8 to make it more friendly and usable to the users which are familiar with the older versions of Microsoft Windows. Still, Windows 7 is leading the market of Operating System but it seems that Windows 8 will become a mostly used OS in future.
