Nokia is one of the most famous and well known Mobile Phone manufacturers in the world especially in Pakistan. Almost Each and every Pakistani is familiar with Nokia cellphones. Nokia cellphones are also considered as the most reliable and usable cellphones in Pakistan. Nokia cellphones are manufactured by Nokia Corporation which is a Finnish multinational Communication and Information technology corporation. Nokia has employees in 120 countries and their cellphone are being sold in about 150 countries. By the year 2012, Nokia was the 2^nd highest mobile phone maker after Samsung. 

Nokia is highly known for its slogan "NOKIA Connecting People" and it was the largest vendor of Mobile Phones from the year 1998 to 2012. Nokia 1100 was Nokia’s best-selling cellphone ever. Nokia 3310 is also very known mobile phone Nokia has manufactured. Most famous and popular series of Nokia mobile phones are N Series and E series. Nokia was the first to claim that there is some space for the mobile phone in the market which could a serve as a gaming console. Nokia also introduced N-Gage which was a mobile phone as well as a gaming console.

Symbian was the main OS for Nokia mobile phones till 2011. Nokia N series which is very popular among Nokia cellphone came with the Symbian OS version 8.1. Later N series mobile phones are released with the upgraded version. Nokia released its mobile phones not only with Symbian OS but also with MeeGo, Maemo, etc. Later in 2011, Nokia joined hands with Microsoft, and announced that its Symbian and MeeGo OS will be replaced with Microsoft Windows Phone OS. Recently, Nokia Corporation has been working on its Lumia Series smartphones which are operating on Windows Phone OS.

During the last 5 years, Nokia has suffered a declined market due to the growing use of the touchscreen cellphone from the other vendor like iPhones and also devices running on Google Android OS. Nokia phones are now struggling in America and Europe. In Asian markets, Nokia has to face a hard competition. Nokia has introduced its Asha series to combat the challenges caused by the Android phones and iPhones.

Nokia has been organizing workshops in different places in Pakistan for the development of Windows Phone 8 and Symbian OS applications. They are providing training to the software developer to make them familiar with Windows Phone OS development. Keeping in mind that the Windows Phone 8 demand is increased in the country, which is a positive sign for Nokia Corporation.
