Lake Saif-ul-Mulook

"Although Pakistan is full of beautiful places but the one which is mentioned here is the Lake Saif-ul-Mulook. No trip to the Northern areas of Pakistan is complete without a visit to Lake Saif-ul-Mulook. Words fail to express its mesmerizing effects which it puts on the tourists.
"
Kaghan Valley
, in the District Mansehra of the Hazara division. It is considered to be one of the highest lakes in Pakistan, having an altitude of about 3224 metres above the sea level.

The lake carries a legendary story. It has been named after a Persian Prince, Saif-ul-Mulook, about whom it is said that he fell in love with the fairies of the mountains behind the lake. It is formed by the melting glaciers of the mountains.
According to travel records, the lake is said to be one of the most widely visited places by tourists. Every year, thousands of people from all over the world come here to spend time. It takes about eight hours to reach Naran from Islamabad on the Mansehra-Balakot and Kaghan road and a further 45 minutes to the reach the lake via jeeps.

It is a pity there is no proper rest area, no hotel or a guesthouse where the tourists can have a rest or can enjoy the scenery of the bewitching lake. There is no place to refresh and no buildings except a hut maintained by the Forest Department, which remains closed most of the times.
