Lahore Fort - A Magnificent History

The Lahore Fort is the most popular historical landmark of Pakistan. It is located in the heart of Lahore, the capital city of the province of Punjab, Pakistan. It is locally known as ‘Shahi Qila’ which means the royal fort. It is the citadel of walled city of Lahore. Situated on north western side of the walled city, Nobody exactly knows when it was built originally, however, the existing base structure was built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar (1556-1606 AD), and regularly upgraded by subsequent rulers. Later the excavation and research proved that it was built way before 9th century AD. Because of importance and strategic location of Lahore Emperor Akbar ordered to replace the old mud structure with new fortified brick structure to withstand foreign aggression.

Lahore fort is an extraordinarily beautiful example of Mughal architecture and engineering. Fort is divided into two sections. The larger section was for the public which includes large garden and diwan-e-aam (hall for common people). The second much smaller section was in use of royal family, it contains sheesh mahal (the mirror palace) small gardens and other residential buildings. Sheesh Mahal is one of the main attractions of Lahore Fort. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631. It is the most beautiful and decorated building in the entire Fort with complex and beautiful mirror work on walls and ceiling.

Later in 1633 he built khwabgah (sleeping area), moti masjid (Pearl Mosque) and royal hamam (Bath). In 1645 dewan-e-khas (hall of special audience) was added to the fort under the order of Shah Jahan. Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir the son of shah jahan buit a massive Alamgiri Gate in 1674 AD, which is being used as a main entrance these days. He built it directly in front of the entrance of Badshahi Mosque, which was also built by him in 1673 AD. The Alamgiri Gate opens in a beautiful garden named ‘Huzuri Bagh’ which separates Lahore Fort from Badshahi Mosque. Hathi Gate(Elephant Gate) was in use as a main entrance before the construction of Alamgiri Gate. In that gate there is a huge staircase made for elephants which leads to the residential section of the fort.

During the Sikh era among other Mughal buildings Lahore Fort suffered great damage. During the British occupation of Indian subcontinent, the eastern wall of the fort was demolished and replaced by stepped structures which stand to this date. The extensive conservation and reconstruction work is in progress by the archaeology department, and most of the fort has already been restored to its original condition. The Lahore Fort was enlisted in UNESCO’s world heritage site list in 1981.

Pay per Click (PPC) Advertising

PPC, abbreviated as Pay per Click is a type of the advertising model that helps in directing traffic to websites. It is based on the phenomenon that the amount, spent to get an advertisement clicked or an advertiser paying depending on the number of times the published advertisement is clicked. PPC also called as Cost per Click is an Internet Advertising used on search engines, advertising networks and website/blogs.
Now coming to how the PPC advertising works? As we know that to have an advertisement listed on search engines we will have to pay for it. This is done by the act of bidding the keywords. Advertisers bid on the keyword phrases relevant to their market or their business. Then whosoever bids the highest gets the highest listed position. Besides the factors including keyword popularity and competition from other advertisers bid prices also vary depending on the company’s budget and the time the company is desirous of using the paid amount.
Pay per Click
Some of the most prominent companies that take PPC bids include Google AdWords, Yahoo, Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter. The two models that assist in determining Cost per Click are :
Ø  Flat rate PPC: in it the advertiser and publisher agree on a fixed amount that will be paid for each click
Ø  Bid Based PPC: in it a private auction is hosted by a publisher or an advertising network in which the advertiser signs the contract to participate in the auction and compete against other advertisers.

Legitimacy of PPC:
This Pay per Click advertising is not that clean, it also includes security breaches such as click frauds that can lead to destruction in advertising budget as well as restrict positional customers from reaching a site. In this regard the search engines help by detecting some unusual patterns such as clicks coming from same IP address, repetitive and duplicate clicking and the time of the clicks. But it also cannot be ignored that click fraud harms an advertiser directly by running him out of his budget and also some analysts have estimated that click fraud runs as high as 20 percent for certain keywords.
PPC
Future of PPC:

According to the inventor of Pay per Click; Bill Gross the future of PPC is in Pay per Action. And this advancement of PPC in pay per action has eliminated the click fraud problem. In it the business would not have to pay for the number of clicks instead it all depends on the completion of a desired action such as, a purchase, a fill out form, a download etc. And thus in this way the advertisers only pay for the concrete results.

MQM - A Revival

Okay, so we hear Altaf Hussain, founder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement  (aka MQM), announce Operation Cleanup against the black sheep present in his political party.

Altaf Hussain, residing presently in London, leads MQM, a Pakistani political party, its roots being the strongest in Karachi.

After the 11th May National Elections in Pakistan, MQM was blamed for rigging and cheating by Imran Khan's  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's leader, Arif Alvi, in NA-250. Protests were held in this regard too by the PTI supporters in Karachi. Both MQM and PTI leaders held press conferences claiming the other side to be guilty. After that, Altaf Hussain used harsh words against PTI in a live telephonic conference from London.

After much havoc created by both sides, MQM founder Altaf Hussain warned all members of the party against serious actions to be taken against anyone found involved in illegal activities. He then dissolved the Raabta Committee, saying that it's now time to clean MQM of all corrupt entities.

Yesterday, he has announced a new Raabta Committee, in which Haider Abbas Rizvi, Aamir Khan, Nasreen Jaleel, Dr. Sagheer Ahmad,
Kanwar Naveed, Waasay Jaleel, Mustafa Azizabadi, Yousuf Shahwani and some others are included. Saleem Shehzad, Raza Haroon and Asif Siddiqui, who were the members of the old Raabta Committee, are not included this time. Further, Anees Ahmad Advocate is restricted to get involved in any political activities due to serious indiscipline from his side. Memberships of some MQM'ers have also been cancelled.

Furthermore, Altaf Hussain has dissuaded all his followers to take care of their personal reputation as well as of their political party, alarming them that serious steps will be taken whenever needed against such members.

Hope that this recent revival does improve the image of MQM, who's a major stakeholder in the political grounds of Karachi.

Shehzad Roy and “Chal Parha”

Shehzad Roy a renowned, talented, compassionate singer and also the owner of Zindagi Trust recently did a program called Chal Parha. His this program has introduced some happenings in the country as well as in some minds.
Shehzad Roy
Starting from the schools, he says that he has reformed the once dilapidated government school into a model that can be looked upon by the government in order to revamp other schools and institutions as well. His belief in promoting quality education and inculcating the need of reviving educational awareness has lead to an increment in his fan following and has appealed a mass audience.
Coming to Roy’s show Chal Parha, it is an effort to spread the message all over Pakistan or in other words an initiative to portray that picture of Pakistan which needs more Paint Brushes and colours to develop a better Pakistan. But here come many opinions in which we observe support as well as some hiccups in accepting the ideas outlined by Roy.
Some say that Shehzad has discouraged too much inclusion of our Islamic Victors in our textbooks thinking that this leads to the outcome as a terrorist. They are of the opinion that our Islamic History is needed to be taught openly and comprehensively and this will not lead to becoming a terrorist. Some people also disagree with the points he has presented to improve the curriculum. Such as his one point says;
Remove discriminatory contents (based on Gender and Religion) and tradition of presenting the twisted history in our books should be end.
This one is conceived by some as an intention to secularize our education system. Moreover, he has also demanded to eliminate the inclusion of Islamic war heroes and historical Muslim personalities in chapters.
Shehzad Roy started this program with the purpose of highlighting the following issues in public schools;
·         Corporal punishment
·         Medium of instruction
·         Population
·         Textbooks
·         Curriculum
·         Teachers etc
Undoubtedly he not only succeeded in throwing light upon some important issues that needed to be looked after but also lead to the passage of bills in implementing the requisites. Furthermore, his effort in voicing out the wrongs and the act of bringing in limelight the issues that are ‘deserve to be considered’ is commended by many people in Pakistan.
Chal Parha

The disagreements and agreements with Shehzad Roy’s work will carry on, and they carry on every time a voice is ousted for some purpose. But the most important message that the state of Pakistan exhibits is that, we all should stand and work uprightly with intention of seeing a better Pakistan or utilize our career in a way that would contribute in the emergence of a developed Pakistan.

Cloud Computing and its Advantages....

The term cloud computing is used as well as heard very often, but few of us really know what it’s all about, or what associations does this term has with the computer world. Let’s make this step by step, from easier to harder, so that we may understand the concept well.
First of all, imagine e-mailing was not like the way it is today. This takes us back to centuries when e-mail used to be an application whose data; the things we use in a mail such as documents, files , messages and other things were stored  safely in a room. These were the olden days of networking.                                 Now moving forward, when Google lime lighted, this e-mailing activity became a bit modernized. The method of saving the important data transformed as companies like Google started to open their own servers where this e-mail information could be stored free of charge. And to access data the use of Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail was availed. From here we derive that Cloud Computing is all about running application that are on other people’s servers using either an interface or an application format.

With the advent of Cloud Computing the websites and server based apps that were executed on a specific system are now evolved into an amalgamated configuration where computers work together in a cloud and various applications then work in parallel as if they are running on a single system smoothly. Without the need of any installation it paves the path for consumers and businesses to use applications and files at any computer with Internet access. Cloud computing thus stands a technology that uses Internet and servers to maintain data and applications. Hence in today’s world we can’t imagine the absence of this innovation as without this we would be unable to store and retrieve information in an advanced, efficient and authenticated way.
Cloud
Cloud Computing

The Cloud Computing model importantly comprises of a frontend and a backend. These two terms are basically the names given to the cloud connection that forms in between. Such as the front end is where the user is interacting with the system; a client computer, a computer network or the applications use to access the cloud and the backend is the cloud itself that provides computers, servers, applications and data storage.
The cloud computing technology includes the following merits:
·         Efficient storage
·         Inexpensive since all  resources are maintained by the service provider
·         Highly reliable
·         Empowers the employees to become productive

In a nut shell, Cloud Computing includes a server and email management software present on the cloud (Internet) that is totally managed by the cloud service provider Yahoo, Google etc, and the user gets to use the software alone and enjoy its benefits.

Pakistan General Elections '13 Finally Ends

Elections make a great contribution to democratic governance. It enables the people to cast their votes to elect representatives to hold them accountable to their office because a democratic government must be conducted through representatives. Election has also become a major factor in stabilization and democratization of emerging democracies and post-conflict countries. The establishment of an independent and well-functioning Election Commission is a crucial element for the success.

Election 2013
Election 2013

Election 2013 was the great hope for the Pakistani nation to elect the person according to their choice and cast the vote to the person whom they think can lift the country towards success and development and take them out of all the problems the nation had gone through till now.

Election 2013 was a great achievement because the previous government of Pakistan Peoples Party completed their five years of rule successfully. Elections were supposed to be held on 11th May 2013. Whole nation had stood up with an enthusiasm to bring a leader who might give them a sigh of relaxation. All political parties had become active and started their election campaign all over the Pakistan to gain popular support. Big banners, flags and pamphlets were seen everywhere in the country.

From all areas of Pakistan, different individual candidates and candidates from all political parties participated in elections as candidates for National and Provincial assemblies. In Punjab, PMLN and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were in the ground of battleship to run their campaign freely. However, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar were declared as the red zone due to security reasons. PPP, MQM and ANP were being threatened from the very first day after the abolishment of the previous government. Terrorist alarmed them to stay out of the elections and do not run any election campaign anywhere otherwise they would be blasted by bomb. Several bombs were blasted on offices and Jalsas of MQM, ANP and PPP by terrorists.

For the National Assembly, PMLN, PTI, MQM, Jamat e Islami and PPP were the strong political parties. PTI and PMLN had strong candidates for Punjab Provincial Assembly. MQM, PPP and PMLF were having strong candidates for Sindh Assembly however PTI, JUI Fand Jamat e Islami were strong in KPK Assembly and BNP, PMLN were strong from Balochistan Assembly.

elections 2013
Leader of Pakistan Politics

After all, voting took place on 11th May 2013. Due to some reasons, polling did not take place in some polling stations. Few incidents of rigging were also reported in some areas however whole electing process took place successfully and finally the results got announced on the next day. PMLN got a high number of seats in National Assembly leading with more than 120 seats. However, PTI won the elections on the National Assembly on around 30 seats and PPP got about 35 seats. MQM was successful to secure 18 National Assembly seats. PTI chairman, Imran Khan secured 3 National Assembly seats.

On Provincial basis, PMLN got majority in Punjab with PTI on the second position. In KPK PTI got lead on provincial seats and JUI F got second highest. In Sindh, PPP got the high number of seat in provincial assembly and MQM got the second highest majority in provincial assembly. In Balochistan, PMLN got the majority.

During the whole electoral process, NA 250 had become a controversial constituency. On the day of election polling failed to start on 43 polling stations of NA 250. However PTI protest for polling in these 43 polling stations and MQM was in the favor for repolling in the whole constituency. Several protests are done by MQM and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf. Election Commission denied the application of MQM for repolling in all polling stations of NA 250 and MQM boycott elections from NA 250. And on 19th May, Dr Arif Alvi a candidate of PTI has won from NA 250.

Prime Minister of Pakistan
PMLN Cheif Nawaz Sharif

Now the result is showing that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) is going to establish the democratic government in Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif will take the charge of Prime Minister of Pakistan for the third time. Now the whole Pakistani nation is looking towards the upcoming government to solve all the critical and serious problems country has been facing like terrorism, inflation, law and order issues, electricity shortfall and others social and economic problems. Also the people are full of hope that there elected representatives will make Pakistan a democratic and a developed country.
